�C�mo nace su pasi�n por la fotograf�a y el retrato?
Yo tuve la suerte de tener en el k�nder a unos compa�eros que eran unos genios para el dibujo y yo no ten�a esa facilidad, entonces de las fotos que ve�a en mi casa, yo le dec�a a mi mam� que ese era un dibujo muy bien hecho, eran las fotos. Eso me llev� a la idea de cubrir con la fotograf�a esa deficiencia que yo ten�a para dibujar. A la edad de 8 a�os antes que una bicicleta quise una c�mara fotogr�fica y desde ah� comenz� todo.
Ya despu�s busqu� tener una c�mara profesional, porque me gustaba tomar im�genes en movimiento.
�Cu�ndo comenz� a dedicarse a la fotograf�a de forma profesional?
Cuando entr� a la universidad quise estudiar fotograf�a, pero en ese tiempo no hab�a ninguna instituci�n. Entonces me met� a estudiar f�sica, que era lo que m�s me acercaba m�s a lo que yo quer�a, pero no me sent� c�modo y me cambi� a la carrera de ingenier�a civil, hice una maestr�a en planeaci�n y despu�s trabaj� en el sector p�blico y luego en la iniciativa privada y tuve la oportunidad de ser jefe del departamento t�cnico y de promoci�n, ah� necesitaba fotograf�as y no hab�a fot�grafos especializados.
De ah� me llam� mucho la atenci�n la mercadotecnia comercial e hice una maestr�a en la Universidad de las Am�ricas que era la �nica en M�xico que ten�a esta disciplina y despu�s ocup� puestos de mercadotecnia, hasta llegar a ser director corporativo de un grupo de empresas, luego form� una empresa integral con la que se dio servicio a las mejores empresas de la �poca para hacer sus informes anuales, que inclu�a la fotograf�a realizada por m�. Hay fotograf�as de metales que le dieron la vuelta al mundo.
Ya despu�s hubo mucha competencia y empec� a hacer retrato pol�tico, hab�a ya retratado a los presidentes de empresas mexicanos y extranjeros, el primer personaje en el �mbito pol�tico que retrat�, fue Don Luis Legorreta que fue el fundador y presidente del Banco Nacional de M�xico.

Estoy apunto, tengo un plan muy interesante y muy ambicioso, hay una empresa internacional, que abarca un aproximado de mil fot�grafos en varias partes del mundo, se trata de que los viajeros contraten a un fot�grafo profesional y que tenga las mejores tomas de sus viajes, el fot�grafo cobrar�a por hora y algunas veces har�a de gu�a.
Le propuse a esta empresa que yo adiestrara a estos mil fot�grafos para que en todas las ciudades m�s importantes de los pa�ses hubiera un fot�grafo profesional especialista en viajes.
Tambi�n se debe de instruir a quienes ya tienen los conocimientos de fotograf�a y hacerlos conscientes de que en el retrato no se debe hacer todo con fotoshop, se ve falso y lo que debe proyectar un pol�tico es confiabilidad, a un pol�tico con una foto adulterada no le van a creer, pierde confianza y pierde esa naturalidad, pierde su simpat�a, su empat�a con una foto adulterada con el fotoshop no puede lograrse ese objetivo.
Puede ser que la academia se llame David Ross, a mi lo que me interesa es dejar un legado, de todo lo que he venido descubriendo, aprendiendo y experimentando a lo largo de estos a�os, que no se pierda.
�Qui�n representa mayor dificultad para el retrato las mujeres o los hombres?
Depende mucho de la persona m�s que del g�nero. Las mujeres siempre tratan de verse bonitas y tienen esa tendencia, se inclinan un poco m�s a la hermosura, pero yo les hago ver que no es m�s importante la hermosura que la belleza, la hermosura se ve y puede ser grata a la vista, la belleza es algo que no se ve, pero que se llega a sentir y que es real, que nos cautiva que nos provoca entusiasmo.
Hay mujeres en la pol�tica en todo el mundo que proyectan su belleza interna y que son reconocidas y recordadas por sus hechos y por lo que proyectan y no por su apariencia.
La belleza en el hombre se ve en la fuerza, en la determinaci�n. Cuando se retrata a una mujer hay que convencerla primero que es m�s importante lo que sale de adentro, m�s que lo tiene fuera, no votan por una mujer cuando es Miss Universo, no vota la gente por un hombre bonito, si ayuda cuando est� respaldado con una buena expresi�n de fortaleza.
�Cu�les son los retos que ha enfrentado en el retrato?
Yo logro mi prop�sito, me sea m�s f�cil o m�s dif�cil, todo depende de que la contraparte est� en la mejor disposici�n de ayudarme, pero a veces tienen una traba. Un ejemplo es el maestro Manzanero que ten�a una sonrisa estereotipada, siempre era la misma, tuve que romper eso, pero �l tuvo la paciencia y la disposici�n, despu�s su sonrisa fue otra y fue espont�nea en todos los retratos que le hice.
Hay una modulaci�n previa del rostro de quien se va a retratar y despu�s hay que obtener esa misma modulaci�n a trav�s del sentimiento.
Lo lamentable es que los consultores actualmente, dicen que el retrato no tiene ninguna trascendencia, cuando despu�s se encuentran que perdieron la campa�a por una mala percepci�n de la primera imagen. Se olvidan que lo primero que sale de una persona es esa imagen, es la primera impresi�n, tienen muy descuidado el retrato pol�tico y los candidatos muchas veces no se dan cuenta que es un instrumento fundamental para el �xito de su campa�a y que no puede costar lo mismo que cuesta una fotograf�a en un local en donde se hacen credenciales.
